Creating contacts#

A contact is a person. Contacts are who deals are agreed with, who activities are logged against, and who your team actually talks to.

Create a contact#

  1. Open Contacts from the sidebar.
  2. Select New contact.
  3. Enter the First name and Last name — both are required.
  4. Choose the Company they work at, if any.
  5. Add their email, phone and job title.
  6. Select Save.

Faster: from the company#

If the company profile is already open, add the person from there. The company is filled in for you and you are not searching a list you have already navigated.

What each field is for#

First name / Last name — required, and how contacts are matched when no email is present. Enter them separately; "Layla Hassan" typed into the first name field sorts and searches badly.

Company — optional but strongly recommended. It is what lets a deal inherit the right company automatically, and what makes the contact appear on the company's profile.

Email — the strongest duplicate key Nazzam.ai has. When a contact has an email, imports and merges match on it rather than guessing from names.

Phone / Mobile — international format (+20 100 123 4567), validated on entry. Keep the mobile in Mobile: some teams filter on it for SMS.

Job title — worth filling in even when it feels obvious. It is the fastest way for a colleague picking up the account to know who decides.

LinkedIn — a full profile URL.

Description — how they prefer to be contacted, who they report to, anything a stand-in would need on a first call.

Common mistakes#

Two contacts for the same person — usually one with a work email and one with a personal one. Search by last name before creating.

A shared mailbox as a contact. accounts@ is not a person. Put it on the company's email field, and keep contacts for humans you can follow up with.

Creating the contact without the company, meaning to fix it later. Deals created in the meantime inherit no company, and nothing reminds you afterwards.

Local phone formats. 0100 123 4567 is ambiguous once you have accounts in more than one country — and a number stored without its country code cannot be dialled from abroad.
